Be Christian, Be Family!

 

 

On the eve of the upcoming Easter holidays "Youth movement for development of the rural areas in Bulgaria" organized a youth seminar devoted to issues of Christian family values and modern trends and roles in the family. It was held on 1 and 2 April 2017 in the picturesque mountain village of Bojenica. The seminar was attended by 12 young people from the region of Botevgrad, youth workers from YMDRAB, experts from the National Youth Forum and the Sofia Theological Seminary.

Through methods of nonformal education (discussions, role plays, workshops and lectures) participating youngsters get idea about the Christian family values such as they were in the past, analyzed the realities and challenges facing today's young families living in Bulgarian rural areas, discussed the roles of man and woman in the modern family of the 21st century and considered the role of women - between patriarchal traditions and modern society.The participants discussed also how technology affects communication and relationships within the family.

As a result of analysis and discussions participants built a common vision of how they would like to look Christian family in the future. They generated ideas for specific follow-up actions which to be taken on local level to promote and disseminate Christian family values among their relatives, friends and peers.
