“The magic to communicate” – a big international project focused on working with autistic youngsters

The number of young people with autism spectrum disorders in Europe is constantly increasing. This requires the workers who are involved in activities on behalf of the autistic youngsters continually to update their knowledge, attitudes and skills. Also it is necessary to have an active international interaction and exchange between organisations involved in this mission.

In response to these problems, YMDRAB in partnership with 4 organisations from different European countries implement a project named "The magic to communicate". Its main aim is professional training of Speech and language therapists from Eastern Europe for work with autistic youngsters and development of their cooperation for innovation and exchange of experience, skills and best practices.

The main project activity will be an international training course. It will be held from 31.07.2015 to 09.08.2015 in Kranevo, Bulgaria. The training will bring together 50 youth workers and experts from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania and Bulgaria. The participants will be speech therapists, youth advisors, social workers, psychologists, project managers, youth leaders and volunteers who are engaged in activities supporting the socio-educational and personal development of young people with autism in their countries.

During the training the participants will learn about the essence and applicability of the latest methods and systems for work with autistic youngsters used in different countries. They will exchange ideas, experiences and good practices and will acquire practical skills for encouraging inclusion of the young people with autism into the educational system and labor market. The youth workers will develop new professional contacts that will be used for future cooperation in order to innovate and improve the quality of services for autistic youngsters.
