For young people, wild animals are the most interesting and exciting element of forest ecosystems. In order for the participants in the project to see wild animals, we organized a visit to Sofia Zoo, where we saw a wide range of animals from Bulgaria and from foreign countries. The trainer explained the ways of life and the benefits and significance of the animals which are most widespread in the forests of Bulgaria.
The students found that there are no harmful animals or “bad beasts”, and that each creature is very useful and irreplaceable in nature. We all realized that wild animals do not only need food and shelter but they also need tranquillity away from the noise of cutting machines and trucks so that they can develop successfully. The young Roma were very impressed with what they had seen and decided to take good care in future not only of domestic animals but also of wild animals.
